Branded Entertainment Keeps Growing
Branded content is set to be one of the biggest growth areas in advertising in the US according to private equity firm Veronis Suhler Stevenson. They predict a 7.3% yearly rise in spend on branded entertainment up until 2014. This is in contrast to the ‘sluggish’ 2.2% growth of traditional media.
We have previously discussed the importance and rise of branded content in the marketing industry. With increased media fragmentation and almost unlimited amount of choice it is becoming increasingly difficult for brands to stand out and grab people’s attention.
By the way, did you know that by 2014 it is expected that almost 200 million people of the US internet population will watch online video at least once a month? Many brands are starting to pay close attention to what is happening to their branded content.

Stallone Blows Up YouTube
If you are an action movie fan than you must know by now that Sylvester Stallone has organised a reunion of kick-ass action heroes of sorts. His new film, The Expendables can boast a cast of Stallone himself, as well as Dolph Lundgren, Bruce Willis, Jet Li and Mickey Rourke.
It’s promising to be an explosive film and to illustrate that exact point the film’s YouTube channel gets blown to bits by Stallone during an interview. The idea of a video interacting with the YouTube environment is nothing new. Nintendo were the first high profile case study when Wario broke the video portal’s page, but it does once again highlight the huge creative opportunities online video has to offer.
